What are Front Door Nightlatches?

A front door nightlatch is used as an extra form of security, particularly on external wooden doors. They are mounted on the surface of the internal side of the door. Surface nightlatches for front doors provide automatic locking on entering and automatic locking on exiting. Nighlatches are normally fitted to front doors with a B.S. 3621 deadlock fitted below to conform to insurance company requirements.
